ADULT COURSES
Beginner to Advanced: Still Life Drawing
Adults will return to basics by creating a still life drawing in a full shade of values. They will learn to measure, consider various options for interesting composition and design, as well as develop greater sensitivity to drawing with accurate proportion. Adults will also learn to blend by learning various classical techniques.

Beginner to Advanced: Still Life Painting
Having completed an accurate charcoal drawing, adults will transition to oil painting, adding color to the values already indicated. An emphasis will be placed on moving from thin to thick, allowing the paint to gradually build up. Adults will develop an appreciation for understanding warm and cool color relationships as well as organizing their palettes properly.

Beginner to Advanced: Landscape/City Scape Painting
Adults will go offsite and create a drawing of the environment. Adults will create a basic graphite or charcoal drawing of their intended painting subject, as a preparation for a landscape or city scape painting. Oil paints and easels will be utilized on location with particular focus on accuracy of color and values. Often landscapes/city scapes that come most to life are not perfect technical drawings, but paintings that depict the natural color most accurately.
ADULT COURSES
Beginner to Advanced: Portrait Drawing
Adults will learn basic anatomy of the face focusing on the skeletal and muscular anatomy of the face with awareness of proper placement of features and proportion. They will receive a basic understanding with regard to the difference between male and female facial features, as well as variances for teens, children, toddlers, and babies. The goal will be to draw a detailed portrait from observation with charcoal as naturalistically as possible.

Beginner to Advanced: Portrait Painting
Using oil and canvas, adults will create a portrait from observation. Special attention will be given to lighting and composition. Adults will learn as well, basic techniques for creating flesh tones on the palette. Adults will develop as well, basic competence in effective use of brush strokes. Glazing, scumbling, and impasto techniques will be offered as opportunities for experimentation as well.

Beginner to Advanced: Introduction to Illustration - Charcoal
Adults will create a full value charcoal illustration of a particular subject as preparation for a full color illustration. Adults will be exposed to various styles from photo-realistic to cartooning to incorporating abstract concepts within the illustration. Thumbnail sketches will be used to brainstorm various approaches and potential compositions. Adults will then execute a detailed illustration to serve as reference when moving on to color.
ADULT COURSES
Beginner to Advanced: Introduction to Illustration - Acrylic
Adults will utilize their charcoal illustrations to create a full color illustration with acrylic paints on illustration board. Basic color theory will be considered in order to make effective color choices to fit the overall mood of the design. Adults will learn to move from thin to thick along with being introduced to various methods and techniques utilizing the medium.
ADULT COURSES
Beginner to Advanced: Personal Project
Adults who have particular personal art projects that they'd like to produce have the opportunity to receive instruction from start to finish from the initial thumbnail sketching stages to the finished painting. Working on these projects within a communal environment will allow artists to learn from others as well as receive feedback from multiple perspectives on their work.
