ABOUT DEACON ANDREW THOMAS
Deacon Andrew Thomas is a graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design, and worked for four years professionally as a graphic designer, illustrator, and sculptor before entering Notre Dame Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana, studying for the Diocese of Baton Rouge for the priesthood.
After discernment, Deacon Andy decided his vocation was to the married state and is married with four children. He is a devout Catholic and currently the Director of Religious Education at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Prosper, TX. He has an M.A. in Theology and is a permanent deacon residing in the Diocese of Fort Worth.
Deacon Andy started Bonaventure Comics, with hopes to participate in Pope St. John Paul II’s vision of the “New Evangelization,” using comics to spread the Gospel message to our youth. Deacon Andy's most recent project, The Life of St. John Berchmans, is most special to him. Deacon Andy has high hopes that the rediscovery of the life of this great saint will inspire youth to seek true joy and happiness by growing in virtue and in love for Jesus and Mary.
The deacon's comics have been published by The Catholic Miscellany in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as The Catholic Connection in Shreveport, Louisiana. Our Sunday Visitor recently wrote an article on Deacon Andy's work.
In July of 2024, Deacon Andy will open an art studio teaching traditional drawing and painting classes for young and old in Durant, Oklahoma! Stay tuned to the website to register for classes for children, youth, and adults!
